Call 'em Like You See 'em

If you haven't heard, two year old children are pretty honest. Last night we took the girls out to dinner at an outdoor cafe with live music. Before our food came, Johnny had to take Emma to the restroom, leaving Caitlin and I alone at the table. Now, there was a lot for Caitlin to take in at this place, but what is the one thing that she noticed? She turned around and looked at the woman sitting behind us, turned back around and said: "Mommy, that girl has plenty of make-up on." Now let me clarify that when I say she was sitting behind us, I mean inches behind us-definitely within earshot. So I used my very best parenting skill- I ignored her. Well, she would have none of that. She apparently really wanted me to know about this woman's make-up, so she repeated herself, not one more time, but two more times. Yep, she did. Finally, I gave her a weak nod, changed the subject and turned away. As embarrassing as it was, I can never remember trying so hard not to laugh at something--I mean eyes watering, bite the lip trying not to laugh.

Here's what makes it even better. Caitlin loves make-up-and lots of it. Check out her latest foray into Mommy's make-up:

If you think that's bad, you should have seen the baby dolls.
